There is no reason for me to read so much Gawker.

As many of you know, I have an intense dislike for Moe Tkacik, a writer at the otherwise excellent Jezebel.  Moe writes extremely long, rambling posts with little actual content.  She is also incredibly thin-skinned, especially considering she works for a website built on gossip and rumors.  Most infuriatingly, she attracts high page views and hundreds of comments usually only tangentially related to whatever she was posting about.  For some reason, this barely coherent writer is now a top player in the New York media blogging world.

While drunk, Moe also recently made some inflammatory comments about date rape and other issues.  I don’t want to link to all of the fallout, but in the end, Moe is leaving Jezebel and moving to Gawker after passing on a position at Radar.  I can only hope the much less forgiving Gawker commenters call her out on her poor writing.

Anyway, there are so many more excellent bloggers that deserve a chance at a major, influential blog like Gawker.  I’d love to see the supremely brilliant Rich from FourFour and Pot Psychology there, or Amelie Gillette, aka the hilarious AV Club’s Hater.  So much talent out there - why waste the space on a comma-abusing drama queen?
