Desert Island DVDs
My family has a really bad habit of collecting media. My parents had thousands of books that they sold before moving to Portland. Back in the day, my brother habitually rented VHS tapes from Blockbuster and recorded them onto blank tapes. (You could fit three full length movies on a blank tape, so every time you popped in a cassette you got a mini Ben-curated film festival.) Anyway, I have a lot of DVDs. It runs in the family.
However, I didn’t have ANY movies here in Seattle because they got shipped from Atlanta to Portland. So during Thanksgiving I stuffed a few in my suitcase, and, well, here’s what I picked:
- Boxed set of the original trilogy of Star Wars
- Harold and Maude
- Annie Hall
- Spirited Away
- A Little Princess/The Secret Garden split DVD
- Degrassi: The Next Generation Season 3
So I’m not sure what that says about me. Either I’m a giant geek, or I’m twelve, or I like movies with manic pixie dream girls but only if made before 1980.
